The Berkeley Classic 30 x 42 Inch Martin Universal Foldaway Table offers everything a new or experienced draftsman/artist needs. It features a 42L x 30W-inch working area that is made of solid high-density, non-directional pressed wood covered with a laminate specially designed to ease eye strain. Choose cherry or white top color. The folding base is rated as the best and sturdiest in its class due to the heavier-gauge steel construction, larger footprint, and additional height adjustments. The Berkeley Classic Foldaway Table is adaptable to any project because it adjusts from a low flat position of 29 inches to a high flat position of 53 inches.


About Martin Universal Design, Inc.
Over 40 years ago, Dennis Kapp founded Martin Universal Design, Inc., which incorporated the wholesale, importing, and manufacturing of Northwest Blue Print, the company Mr. Kapp's father founded in 1946.         As an animator/illustrator I do a lot of drawing. This drafting table provides the ergonomic, height-adjustable surface that I need. The legs telescope individually which can be clumsy at times, but it's perfectly adequate for the price. The foldaway mechanism works nicely for moving the table about the house.

          I draft plans for scenery and illustrate childrens' books. I also move a LOT. A drawing surface that is inexpensive, easy to assemble and easy to move is essential to me. This table definitely meets all my criteria, except that once assembled it is difficult to move through a standard door. Once the top is on, it's on for good. I was hoping the whole unit would be able to break down and reassemble easily. The table is very easy to assemble, even if the instructions are horrendously written. The table also works well on my uneven studio floor- the legs adjust individually so I have a level surface to work on.

            The basic clean design and compact size was perfect in a small area where we needed to review construction job plans. The independent height adjustability of each leg was a plus since the surface it was placed on was not level.

            Since it's made with a formica like surface, it's heavy duty and strong, but a little heavy. The tubular legs are exceptionally strong and easy to set up. Portable, but only if you got a van. As a substation technician, I take it from site to site daily, updating prints onsite. It's easy set up consist of standing it up and tightening the finger nuts in seconds. My back doesn't hurt as much as when I used to use tables or any flat surface I could find, since this table is adjustable and more ergonomic in design. I just wish it would have a trim at the bottom or some kind of pencil holder. And it's American made!
